Thomson Time is a unique and fascinating account of the lives of Aboriginal people of Arnhem Land in the 1930s, a time of very rapid change. More than a photographic essay, this book is based on the field notes, diaries and photographs of Professor Donald Thomson, an anthropologist and zoologist who made an expedition to Arnhem Land. Detailed descriptions and photographs of camp life, house styles, hunting and fishing techniques, ceremonies, contact with outsiders and knowledge of the seasons are presented, together with glimpses into the already fragile nature of relationships with Europeans.
