Come and join in an Irish fling this summer at the Irish Kids Fest at the Immigration Museum on Sunday 13 January 2013.
Irish Kids Fest is a special festival for children aged 3 to 12 and their families, packed with performances, inspiring workshops and fun activities. Visit the Emerald Isle for a day and learn to play the Irish bodhrán drum, dance a ‘Riverdance’ style jig, savour Irish tales and food, as well as family craft activities and face painting – with fun to be had for sure!

Performances & Music
TREASURE IRELAND
Jack & Molly discover that the key to their precious treasure has been taken from Ireland to Australia. Come with them as they immigrate across the oceans to try and find the key. Will it ever be found? Can they discover if the treasure is still in the chest? An interactive show full of music, theatre and adventure!
IRISH DANCING
Enjoy intricate Irish step dancing performances by children from the Christine Ayres School of Irish Dancing, a world champion school based here in Melbourne.
Workshops
BODHRÁN DRUMMING
Learn to play the traditional Irish bodhrán drum with Vince Brophy from the Lake School of Celtic Music Song & Dance.
STEP DANCING
Marie Brouder from the Lake School of Celtic Music Song & Dance will take children through traditional Irish dance steps.
Storytelling & Limerick Competition
Be transported to the Emerald Isle by award-winning storyteller Oisín McKenna who will tell Irish tales and folklore, including the legendary story of the Claddagh ring. Then visit the Immigration Discovery Centre and pen your own limerick with prizes to be won!
Craft Activities & Face Painting
Decorate your very own Claddagh crown, make a bookmark inspired by centuries-old Irish illuminated manuscripts and create your own three-dimensional family tree. Have your face painted with Irish symbols and designs.
Leaving Dublin Exhibition
Visit the inspiring exhibition by Irish photographer David Monahan, Leaving Dublin, which captures the courage of the current generation of Irish migrants.

Self-guided family craft activities with Irish themes will also be available at the Immigration Museum every day of the summer school holidays, until 29 January 2013.
