The Hon Heidi Victoria, Victorian Minister for the Arts has announced the reappointment of Professor Margaret Gardner AO as President of the Museums Board of Victoria, along with two new members.
"Since Professor Gardner joined the Board, Museum Victoria has experienced some wonderful successes and gained national and international acclaim," Ms Victoria said.
"Museum Victoria venues have explored new territory with their research, exhibition and education programs and they have set and broken records, including Melbourne Museum's Tutankhamun exhibition which welcomed more than 790,000 people - the most popular touring exhibition ever to be shown in Australia."
"Professor Gardner's passion for, and commitment to, the organisation has brought so much to Museum Victoria; it is wonderful that this new term as President will allow her to see these significant projects through to completion."
In addition to being President of the Museums Board of Victoria, Professor Gardner is also Vice Chancellor of RMIT. Her reappointment to the Board marks her third term as President. The other additions are Professor Edwina Cornish, Provost and Senior Vice-President of Monash University; and strategic communications specialist Andrew Butcher.
The Museums Board of Victoria oversees the management of Museum Victoria and is directly accountable to the Government of Victoria through the Minister for the Arts.
