Spring has come and lots of exciting things are happening in the Forest Gallery.

The past week has been filled with activity. With warmer weather coming on, the animals have sprung into action!

  • Ferdie, the Long-necked Turtle who lives in the front pond, has re-emerged from the long winter. He can now be spotted swimming in the warmer water.
  • The Rocky River Tree Frogs have spawned twice this week within their display enclosure in the Earth Pathway. Soon we will be overflowing with tadpoles!
  • The Alpine Copperhead Snake has appeared from his winter hideaway in the tree fern stump, and is actively seeking out hotspots.
  • The Cunningham Skinks are basking once again in the warm sunshine at the end of the boardwalk.
  • The Superb Fairy Wren males are displaying their bright blue colouration. Over winter they are brown like the females.
  • The Satin Bowerbird male has been showing off to his females, as he tries to lure them into his bower with the blue objects he has collected.
  • To top it all off, the Tawny Frogmouths appear to be breeding again. The male, Albert, is once again sitting on a nest on top of the multimedia Fire Pole in the northern end of the gallery.

Wander through the Forest Gallery and see what other exciting animal activity you can spot, whilst enjoying the sunshine!
