Help create a water future for Australia.

Museum Victoria is committed to reducing water use. In 2004 the museum became a partner with Watermark Australia, a nationwide dialogue which aims to bring communities together in small groups to discuss the future of water in Australia.

Everyone uses water and has ideas on how to reduce, reuse or recycle it. All staff and volunteers are invited to participate in the Watermark Australia project, to provide feedback about ways to improve water use in our work environment.

If you want to learn more about issues facing Australia’s water future, to develop a better understanding of water use within the museum, or have ideas that could make a difference, please consider joining or leading a Watermark discussion group.

Group convenors are sought to help start these discussion groups across the museum. Bringing together up to nine people, groups can involve work colleagues, friends, relatives, neighbours, sporting colleagues, etc.

Each group will meet 6-8 times over the coming six months, with discussion materials provided by Watermark Australia. Discussions can be casual, and there is no particular onus on convenors to lead – simply introduce topics to the group and then record the outcomes. In support of the project, Museum Victoria will allow staff to participate during work hours.

Each group’s comments will be fed back to the museum to help identify water-reduction priorities, and to Watermark Australia for integration with ideas from across the state, to create a ‘Water Charter.’
