Since the opening of Marine life: exploring our seas, the Discovery Centre has been inundated with visitors wanting to know more about the fascinating creatures featured in this stunning exhibition.

With that in mind, the Discovery Centre has turned into an aquatic zone overflowing with marine resources. The touch table now has a beachcombing theme, the book display is brimming with books about life in the sea and marine documentaries are regularly shown on the big screen.

A new display of specimens from the Museum’s marine collections has also just been unveiled, featuring penguins, seals, fish, sharks, sea dragons, nautili, crabs and other denizens of the deep and not-so-deep. Highlights include the world’s smallest shark, the beak of a Giant Squid and a huge set of jaws from a Tiger Shark!

Want to know more about life in the sea? The Discovery Centre is located on the lower level of Melbourne Museum and is open from 10am-4:30pm, seven days a week.
