Scientific Drawing Workshop at the Discovery Centre.

On Sunday 20 August, the Discovery Centre at Melbourne Museum hosted a highly successful Scientific Illustration Workshop, as part of Museum Victoria’s Science Alive members evening.

Led by local artist Andrew Seward, whose botanical works have been exhibited at Geelong Gallery and Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, hundreds of budding artists created zoological drawings, inspired by specimens from the Centre’s collections.

The evening also celebrated the launch of the Museum’s Caught & Coloured website, a showcase of zoological illustrations from Colonial Victoria. The site explores works commissioned by Frederick McCoy for the Prodromus of the Zoology of Victoria.

A selection of original works from the Prodromus are currently on display in the Discovery Centre.
