Museum Victoria wins international TV commercial award.
At a prestigious ceremony held in Chicago on 13 May, the American Association of Museums awarded the Gold 2007 MUSE Award to Museum Victoria for the Melbourne Museum Dinosaur Television Commercial Campaign.
Awarded in the ‘PR and Development’ section, MV’s campaign beat competition including the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
Now in their 18th year, the MUSE Awards are highly coveted internationally, and are awarded for excellence and innovation in the production of film, video and multimedia by museums.
The Melbourne Museum Dinosaur Television Commercial Campaign aired on Channel 7 and Victorian regional TV stations before and during the 2006 September school holidays. Written and produced by Museum Victoria, the campaign adapted animations created by Act3Animation previously commissioned for projections in Melbourne Museum’s Evolution Gallery.
Award judges commented that MV’s entry was a clear winner, as 'it used humour, appealed to both children and adults, communicated its message clearly and made the exhibition sound exciting'.
'Museum Victoria sets the benchmark in terms of showcasing multimedia and technology within museums and we are delighted this has been recognised with this award,' said Ms Barbara Horn, Acting CEO, Museum Victoria.
