On Friday 7 December Our Stories: Past, Present, Future Journeys was launched by Jan Molloy, Programs Coordinator, Humanities, Immigration Museum at the Wodonga Arts Space.

The launch was attended by a crowd of over 150 enthusiastic friends, families and people from the local community, many of whose stories were told in the exhibition.

Covering migration stories from 1845 to 2007 from Europe, Asia and Africa, the exhibition’s genesis was in March this year, when Year 9 students from Wodonga Middle Years College - Felltimber Campus, along with teacher David Jones, began working with Immigration Museum staff to devise their own collaborative project.

After several months of meetings with staff across all departments, the students decided to make their own exhibition exploring and celebrating the important role immigration has played in shaping their local community.

With assistance from Museum Victoria’s website, Small Object Big Story, and further meetings with Immigration Museum staff, the students planned, researched and created the exhibition, which was undertaken with the support of the Immigration Museum, The Office of Youth – Advance Program and the City of Wodonga.

Our Stories: Past, Present, Future Journeys runs from 7 December 2007 to 5 January 2008 at the Arts Space Wodonga, Corner of Lawrence and Hovell Streets, Wodonga. Open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm and Saturdays 9.30am til noon, admission is free.
