On 29 October, the Customer Service Institute of Australia announced the winners of the 2007–2008 Australian Service Excellence Award. The awards were presented at a gala function at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Museum Victoria won the Victorian ‘state and federal government’ category and was highly commended in the national division. The judges for the Service Excellence awards include senior business figures who are themselves involved in the service sector. As part of the judging process, adjudicators evaluate submissions and pay a site visit to contenders, before selecting state winners, those highly commended and national victors. Not-for-profit organisations, companies operating in the private sector and other government bodies were also recognised by the awards.
The museum gained accreditation in the International Customer Service Standard in March this year.
Dr Patrick Greene, CEO, said of the win, “This is welcome recognition of the service culture we are developing throughout Museum Victoria, and a great encouragement for further initiatives".
