The New You – Best Practice in Character Interpretation
Mark Wallis

How do you become a convincing 'person from the past'?

What do you talk and think about – and wear? How do you interact with others? What are your character's hopes and fears? How do you deal with problem visitors, and anachronisms?

Mark Wallis will address all these issues and many more during his practical workshop.

A Skip Back in Time Workshop
Michael Ward

While on site at the Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, become immersed in an actual school session. Take a detailed look at the activities that the visiting students take part in over the two days of the program. Our belief that “immersion” is the foundation on which we provide excellent learning outcomes is highlighted. Both the social mores and academic activities are combined with the usage of some of the brilliant activations within the Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum. The session will be interspersed with hands-on activities such as a writing lesson with pen and ink, as well as the experience of cross-stitch sewing, in which participants will be treated as students of the 1850s. There is even the possibility that the evil “District Inspector” might visit to ascertain the quality of the teaching. Time for questions will be allowed at the conclusion of the session.
