Secondary Work Experience Placements at Museum Victoria 2012

Places are available for a limited number of students per school year (including school holidays) at Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and Immigration Museum. Placements are for 5 days only and are unpaid.

Applications should be made in writing to the Vocational Education Coordinator and must include:

  • A completed application form
  • A résumé detailing any employment history, hobbies and achievements
  • A reference from a current teacher or school principal.

Successful student applications will be offered a set schedule over a period of 5 days that take them to various departments around their chosen Museum Victoria venue.

Applicants will then be notified of their placement via e-mail. For this reason it is very important that accurate e-mail addresses for both students and teacher in charge of work experience are included on the application form.

Please note, there are no work experience placements left in the 2012 calendar.

Museum Victoria welcomes applications for short, unpaid work placements or internships from tertiary students studying in a field relevant to the range of Museum Victoria departments located at Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks or the Immigration Museum.

Applications will only be considered if:

  • The student is currently in the second year of an undergraduate course or above.
  • The placement is authorised by the university/college.
  • The university/college provides public liability insurance for the student whilst they are on placement.

Applications should be made in writing to the Vocational Education Coordinator and must include:

  • A cover letter stating why and when the student wishes to do their work placement/internship in a particular department or at Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks or Immigration Museum.
  • A résumé detailing any employment history, achievements and relevant skills.
