Description:
Small insects 2-10mm in length with large round heads, narrow necks, biting mouthparts and long antennae. Some have wings, others are wingless. Found on vegetation, under bark or under rocks. Eats plant spores, algae, lichens and fungi. Will also feed on paper to obtain cellulose. Predators include other insects, frogs, reptiles and birds. |
