Description:
Very small to large insects 0.4-80mm in length. Biting and chewing mouthparts. Forewings are hardened and act as protective covers for fragile hindwings when at rest. One in every three known species of animals on Earth is a beetle. Found in most habitats. May eat plants or other insects. Predators include other insects, spiders, frogs, reptiles, mammals and birds. |
