Moths and Butterflies

Description:
Small to very large insects with wingspans 3-250mm. They are covered all over in a dense layer of scales. Wings are often brightly coloured with distinctive patterns. Butterflies have clubs on the end of their antennae. Moths don't. Found in a variety of habitats. Caterpillars eat mainly plant materials. Adults feed mainly on nectar using their proboscis. Predators include other insects, spiders, mammals, birds, reptiles and frogs. |
