Description:
Diverse group varing in size from tiny to up to 10mm. Two body divisions (no external segmentation), eight legs and no antennae. Found in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments. Common in soil and leaf litter. Many are predatory and feed on a variety of invertebrates. Others feed on plant fluids. Some feed on the blood and body fluids of animals. Predators include insects, spiders, fish, birds and lizards.
