Praying Mantids

Description:
Medium to large animals 10-120mm in length. Large eyes set in a triangular mobile head. Named for the way they hold their forelegs in a 'praying' stance. Found in tropical and temperate regions. Use a curved spine or claw at the end of their forelegs to catch prey. Eat mainly insects. Predators include birds, lizards and mammals. |
