Crickets, Grasshoppers and Katydids

Description:
Vary widely from 5-100mm in length. Most have large eyes, wings and enlarged hind legs for jumping. Many species produce sound. Found mainly on vegetation close to the ground. Eat mainly grasses and plant material, though crickets and katydids will also feed on animal matter. Predators include other insects, frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals. |
