A photographic exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC celebrations in Victoria.

They put on the glad rags, cranked up the volume and got their feet moving to the beat at the NAIDOC ball, a fundraiser to support equal rights and raise awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The annual NAIDOC (National Aboriginal Islander Day Observance Committee) week is designed to celebrate the history and culture of Indigenous people.

Awards are presented for outstanding achievements in the community. The photographs in this exhibition reveal 50 years of an important part of NAIDOC week, a chance to stand strong, be acknowledged, and have fun.

The national theme for this year’s celebration is 50 years: Looking Forward, Looking Blak.
