Michelle started at Museum Victoria in 2008 as a volunteer working with the Pacific and Public Life and Institutions Collections while completing Honours in History at Deakin University. In 2009 she took up a position as an assistant curator at Museum Victoria, splitting her time between the History & Technology Collections Online Project and the Migration and Working Life & Trades Collections. In 2012 she was appointed Coordinator, Humanities Collections Online. She is passionate about history and enjoys exploring new ways of connecting objects, stories and the community.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts/Health Science with First Class Honours in History and a Masters in Cultural Heritage from Deakin University. She is currently completing a PhD on the history, development and significance of skiing in Australia.
Michelle is a member of Museums Australia’s Museum Historians National Network Committee as editor of its publication Timelines. She is also a member of the Professional Historians Association (Victoria) at the Professional Historian level, and a Board member and Curator of the National Alpine Museum of Australia. She was the 2011 recipient of the Global Curator Fellowship awarded by the Museum Historians National Network, Curators Committee of the American Alliance of Museums and ICOM.
