- Summary:
- Card issued by the Department of Immigration, dated 14 May 1958. It acknowledges notification of change of address, occupation and place of employment, it was issued to Bretislav Lukes. The reverse side of the card records Bretislav's address as 48 Pennell Ave St Albans.
Born 12 January 1922 in Stankou in Czechoslovakia, Bretislav migrated to Australia on the Goya in 1950 and was sent to Bonegilla. His compulsory employment was for Australian Iron and Steel at Port Kembla, possibly on the Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme. He then moved to Melbourne where he worked for Myer as a TV repair man, at Watson Victa making x-ray machines and finally as a technician in the Physics Department at Swinburne Institute of Technology. - Description:
