Wooden box used for carrying glass photographic plates and their holders for the Great Melbourne Telescope at the Melbourne Observatory, 1870s.
Description:
A square, dove-tail jointed, wooden box of light brown colour with a hinged top. The top is closed using two swinging type metal latches which fit into two metal eyelets. Inside the box there are six wooden partitions; two are detached from the sides. There is a faded white label with a blue border and handwritten text attached to the top of the box with adhesive.
