- This letter of sympathy was one of a large number sent to his trainer and part owner Harry Telford after Phar Lap died in April, 1932. The Telford family retained the letters, and they were donated to the museum in the 1990s.

No doubt/he was one of Gods most noble and magnificent animals/that ever decked the Australian Turf and was too/beautiful to be allowed to remain with us all. We/all know how you must feel over the loss of such a/glorious animal. Judginig from my own feelings/once again accept my deepest and kindest sympathy/in your hour of grief. *NB: This letter contains a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. |
