Assembly Instructions & Operating Manual - H.V. McKay, 'Sunshine-Waterloo Combine Auto-Header', circa 1928 TradeLiterature Reg. No: TL 038430

Summary:
Comprehensive instruction book for owners of the early series McKay Auto Header Harvester, manufactured from 1924 to 1929. Includes description and specification of the machine, unloading instructions (for delivery), detailed assembly instructions, instructions on starting the engine and operating the machine. Also included is a lubrication chart and instructions on the care and maintenance of the machine and how to undertake in-service adjustements of the mechanism. There are several line drawings of the overall machine and major sub-assemblies with clearly lablled names of key components.

The "Sunshine-Waterloo" Auto Header, also known as the "W" Type Auto Header, was made in three models:
"WA" Type - Designed for the Australian market, fitted with 6 bushel grain bin, 2 bagging shoots, and bagging platform with room for 12-14 full unsewn three bushel bags.
"WB" Type - Designed for the Candian and U.S.A. markets, with 50 bushel grain bin or tank and 'high-speed' unloading elevator suitable for 'bulk handling' of grain.
"WT" Type - Designed for the Argentine market, with bagging shoots and tipping platform to allow full sewn bags of grain to be discharged onto the ground in small batches of 5-6 bags.

A typescript label on the front cover indicates that this copy of the manual was the property of Mr L.J. Baglin, of the Service Department at the Sunshine Harvester Works, during the Masey-Ferguson period (post 1958). There are handwritten annotations on the back page (possibly made by Mr Baglin), which refer to the page numbers for making specific adjustments of components that perhaps regularly caused problems.
Description:
