Musical Programme - Reception for the Duke & Duchess of York, 1927 Reg. No: HT 16198
- Musical programme for the reception held by the Government of Victoria in honour of Albert and Elizabeth, the Duke and Duchess of York, at the Exhibition Building, 28 April 1927. Fourteen choirs and four orchestras participated, under the musical direction of Bernard Heinze.
The Duke and Duchess were in Australia to attend the opening of the Federal Parliament of Australia in Canberra, an occassion which also marked the transfer of Federal Parliament from Melbourne where it had been since 1901.
Upon the abdication of his elder brother, King Edward VIII in 1936, Albert ascended the throne as King George VI of the United Kingdom, and his wife became the Queen consort. After George VI's death in 1952, he was succeeded by his daughter, the current Queen Elizabeth II, while - to avoid confusion - her mother became known as Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. She died in March 2002.

The programme is bound with cord along the left margin, and carries the coat of arms of England on the upper left, and Victoria, with the five white stars of the Southern Cross against a blue background, on the upper right of the cover.
