- Icon created for and displayed at the Women on Farms Gathering, Berriwillock, 2008. This model farm gate was commissioned by the Women on Farms Gathering committee, Berriwillock, 2008. It was made by a teacher at the local school and was based on the graphic logo of the Berriwillock Gathering. This icon was symbolically handed over to the 2009 organising committee from Warragul at a ceremony on the last day of the Berriwillock Gathering, April 6, 2008.
The closing of each Gathering and the anticipation of the next is celebrated with a formal 'baton changing' ritual, where a symbolic 'icon' is handed over from one organising committee to the next. Each item represents a story or message of some of the key themes and issues, which have shaped the meaning and experience of these women's rural identity. - Description:
- Model of double farm gates and barbed wire fencing. Constructed from wood, wire and mallee dirt.
