Pamphlet - Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd, Customer Service Pamphlet, 'Tips for Better Flower Pictures', 1969 Document Reg. No: HT 20952

Summary:
A Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd Customer Service Pamphlet titled 'Tips for Better Flower Pictures'. This pamphlet, printed in 1969, was one of a series produced by the Kodak Sales Service Division to help people to enjoy and understand photography so that they would take more pictures. These pamphelts were both a marketing and customer service strategy.

This particular pamphlet explains the framing, distance, exposure and lighting of floral subjects. Phrases like 'Carry your camera always, and don't forget to use it' stress the need to keep taking photographs regularly. Also, by using an emotive Shakespeare quote and phrases like 'But flowers fade, their beauty passes', Kodak successfully draws on notions of nostalgia, loss and change, connecting them with photography and making the purchasing and use of cameras and film a necessary step to avoid loss.

This item is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
