Collected during the 2005-2006 Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay Transgender Collections Survey, a joint project between Museum Victoria, State Library of Victoria and the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
The Midsumma Festival was established in Melbourne in 1988, and is now one of the most significant gay and lesbian festivals in the world. It includes live music, performing arts and a carnival. It lasts for three weeks each year, from mid-January to February, and is concentrated over five inner city municipal councils across Melbourne: City of Melbourne, City of Stonnington, City of Yarra, City of Moreland and the City of Port Phillip. Midsumma Festival Inc is a not-for-profit organisation. 2006 principle sponsor was the City of Melbourne, with producing partners Tourism Victoria, Arts Victoria, City of Yarra & IBM. - Description:
