Summary:: Three pieces of sinter, found below ground under the base of burnt fence posts on Alan and Cynthia Peterson's property in Remlaw, Victoria, after the Black Saturday Bushfires on 7th February, 2009. It was on their property that the Remlaw (Vectis) fire started.

Sinter is a natural fusion of sand, clay and organic matter caused by extreme heat, and usually associated with lightning strikes.
Description:: Thee irregular lumps of sinter, which is a natural fusion of sand, clay and organic matter caused by extreme heat.
Statement Of Significance:: This collection of objects represents the devastation inflicted on the property and livelihood of many Victorians by the Black Saturday bushfires, which occurred on 7th February, 2009. These items come from Remlaw, near Horsham and directly from the property where the Remlaw bushfire started, and indicate the extreme heat that was experienced on the day.

Much of the media representation focused on the catastrophic impact of the fires on Kinglake and Marysville areas, where deaths were recorded. The Remlaw fire was not well recorded in wider media.
