This photograph shows Emily Mierisch's first birthday party at 24 Westgarth St Fitzroy, 1978. The party is taking place in a side driveway, with bluestone paving. People are drinking, eating, taking photographs, and children are playing. The image shows renovations to a terrace house in the inner city, which were commonly bought and renovated during the 1970s. The photograph also shows a family celebration and an important event in a family's history: the first child's first birthday in a new family home with extended family and friends.
