- Two women and a boy, dressed for an outing, standing on the deck of a passenger liner. The boy in the centre is wearing pants, a short sleeved shirt and tie.
This photograph shows Phyllis McCrea, David Meale and Mrs Ross (first name unknown) on board the 'SS Orontes', at Station Pier, 1952. David Meale had gone with his aunt and uncle to farewell a family friend at Station Pier. He remembers he 'was 15 and dressed up for the occasion. His aunt was even more dressed up.' He says dressing formally was 'the thing to do' when you were seeing people off on an overseas voyage. - Acquisition Information:
