Digital Photograph - Home Made 'Night Pan' Toilet, Parkdale, 1950 Image Reg. No: MM 110951

Description Of Content:
Outside 'Night pan' toilet in backyard.

This photograph shows the outside toilet in the backyard of Maureen and Edwin's new home, Parkdale, 1950. They used this toilet for about three or four years until the new house was erected and sewerage pipes were installed in the area. The back trapdoor is visible. This allowed the night man easy access to remove the pan. Edwin, with no carpentry experience, built the toilet himself.
