This photograph shows Agnes Ferguson holding her daughter Ethel Ferguson on the verandah of her family home, Port Melbourne, 1911. Ethel was born 7th January, 1911 in the front bedroom of the house that her mother and father rented. The Ferguson family came to Melbourne looking for work from Nagambie. Ethel's father worked for the Railways. There were seven children in the Ferguson family. The children visible in the right of the picture are not from the family.
