Digital Photograph - Two Men Showing Big Flathead Fish to Boy, Barwon Heads, circa 1956 Image Reg. No: MM 111097

Description Of Content:
Two men showing big flathead fish, boy looking horrified, in foreground.

This photograph shows Tony Clancy, Joseph Doolan, and Peter Doolan with a flathead fish caught at Barwon Heads, circa 1956. Peter Doolan remembers: 'The Doolan and Clancy families camped at the same site at Barwon Heads every summer from the early 1940's until 1967. There was a 'camping fraternity' of families who would fish, camp, swim and holiday together every year.' Peter says he was horrified by the fish. Tony had a fishing boat, they would go out to the open ocean past Barwon Heads, and 'come back with a decent catch, crayfish and all sorts of things' and 'sneak it past the guys at the fishing co-op'.
