This stereograph shows the 'SS Medic' departing for the Boer War while onlookers wave and cheer from an unknown pier, Port Melbourne, 28 October 1899. This was the return leg of the 'SS Medic's' maiden voyage.
This stereograph came from a collection of Melba Ryan's grandparents, Josephine and Martin Nowlan. A lot of them were bought around the date of Federation as souvenirs. They were passed down to Melba's mother, Doris Holden, who passed them down to her. - Acquisition Information:
