Photograph - 'The Interior Under the Dome', 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition Reg. No: MM 124315
- Black & white photograph of an original black & white illustration showing the interior of the Exhibition Buildings at the time of the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition from underneath the dome, looking along the north and west axis of the building, taken circa 1980, though the original illustration is likely to date to 1880.
This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.
- A black & white silver gelatin print on a page of a photograph album of an original illustration. The view is looking towards the north-west corner of the dome in the Exhibition Buildings with various figures wandering through the building below. The Grand Organ is visible at the end of the western nave. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
