Summary:: A colour photograph of fireworks bursting over the Royal Exhibitions Buildings on the night of 27 September 1980 as part of the International Centenary celebrations surrounding the centenary of the Exhibition Buildings' first opening.

This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.
Description:: A colour photographic print on a page of a photograph album. The image shows fireworks bursting over the Royal Exhibition Buildings from a high vantage point in Melbourne's CBD looking north, on the evening on 27 September 1980. The Royal Exhibition Buildings are illuminated and firework have just exploded in the left of the image. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
