Summary:
Portrait of three women and two boys standing outside a building. A plaque on the building is inscribed 'NURSE BATER CERTIFIED MIDWIFE'. Two of the women are wearing nursing uniforms. The image is dated circa 1918, during World War I.

A Nurse Bater was involved in the case of the death of a woman in Walthamstow, UK, in Janurary 1912. It is not known if this image refers to the same Nurse Bater.

One of 63 postcards contained in an album that was owned by Cliff Nowell. There are 25 postcards mounted inside the album and 38 postcard held loosely with in it, (loose postcards housed separately). The images depict photographs of sailors from HMAS Australia and of family and friends. It also contains a mixture of hand-painted cards (two), original photographs (mostly studio or professional) and several commercial postcards.
