Summary:
Souvenir program printed for Jack Davey's Charity Performance, held in the Exhibition Building on 2 February 1951. The event, organised by William Darwin FRGS, was to raise money for The Ministering Children's League and The Cottages by the Sea. The variety performance included marches performed by the Veterans' Ex-service Band, comedy acts by the Clarence Sisters, Highland and Irish reels, and whip cracking by the 'Australian Champion' Ron Anderson and sisters. Jack Davey performed comedic songs and hosted a quiz.

Sydney based Jack Davey was the highest paid Australian radio performer of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. He started his in radio as a 'crooner', but soon established himself as a host of weekly quiz shows, talent quests and other entertainment programs. His trademark greeting was 'Hi Ho, Everybody' and one of the pieces he performed at the Charity Performance in Melbourne was titled 'Hi-Ho Melbourne'.

The Ministering Children's League was founded in 1890 to provide 3-4 weeks accommodation and care for children recovering from illness. Over the decades the charity expanded its remit to provide respite for all children in need. The first cottage of the league was built overlooking the sea in Queenscliff in 1890.
