Badge - Don't Celebrate '88 Rock Against Racism, Australia, circa 1988
Reg. No: SH 990703
- Summary:
- Badge, 'Don't Celebrate '88 Rock Against Racism', alternatively known as a button, was made by Patrick Bros Melbourne circa 1988. The badge was created to raise awareness of indigenous issues and responses to Australia's bicentenary celebrations. Many campaigners considered the white settlement of Australia in 1788 an invasion rather than arrival. The slogan on the badge, 'Don't Celebrate', was a play on the official bicentennial slogan, 'Celebration of A Nation'.
- Description:
- This is a round badge with a black background and an illustration of a Uluru on it. It has two blue areas at the top and bottom of the image with yellow text on them.
