- Summary:
- Framed pair of photographs depicts Phar Lap winning the 1930 Melbourne Cup, and the presentation of the trophy. It belonged to the family of his trainer Harry Telford family, and was amongst a number of items donated to the museum by them in the 1990s.
- Description:
- Two rectangular sepia photographs mounted on a rectangular brown cardboard mount. The larger photograph depicts the finish of a horse race, showing a horse and jockey just about to pass the winning post, followed by nine other horses and jockeys. Some of the jockeys' clothing has been hand painted. The smaller photograph depicts a group of people at a trophy presentation, including horse trainer Harry Telford, his son Gerald and Lord Somer, the acting Governor General. Gerald is standing on a wooden table holding a large trophy in both hands. Details about the photographs are handwritten on the mount.
