- This badge, alternatively known as a button, states that 'State Schools (are) Great Schools' and refers to a Victorian state government campaign of 1990 encouraging enrolment at and confidence in state schools. Badges like these are commonly distributed and worn by protestors who take part in marches, blockades and other public campaigns relating to legislation, Government policy, or community attitudes. They are often produced by political lobbying groups, and are worn on the day of the protest and while the campaign is current. Sometimes badges are supplemented by posters, T-shirts and banners, and other ways of communicating the message.This badge is not provenanced to any one individual, but it reflects the concerns of members of the teaching profession during the 1980s and 1990s.
