These celebrations were part of the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall & York to Australia for the opening of the first Federal Parliament on 9 May 1901.
Description:
Two almost identical sepia stereographs mounted on thick card depicting the Scotch Pipers at the Children's Fete, Duke of York Celebrations, Sydney. In the foreground a group of seven boys in highland dress are playing the bagpipes whilst marching. Immediately behind them follow a small group of men in naval uniform, with a contingent of uniformed military behind. A large crowd of spectators is visible in the background. The marching is taking place on an oval decorated with flags.
