Summary:
Red and black floor rug, which forms part of the dowry of Irene Soumilas. Irene migrated to Australia from the Greek Island of Lefkas in 1958 to be married in 1959. Her dowry travelled in two trunks by ship, although she travelled by air. Many of her dowry items were made by local craftswomen, although other items were given to her by family and friends still living in Greece.
Description:
Woven wool floor rug with fringing. Rug has a black design on a red background, the design is composed of several repeating patterns including lines of varying thicknesses, triangles and a floral motif.
