- Black leather boots with black leather laces. Made by Commando about 1963.
The boots were taken to the Antarctic on the 1963 Antarctic expedition to Mawson Base. Worn by Peter Paish. They were issued as standard issue by ANARE, and were found by the owner to be satisfactory as a touring (cross-country) ski boot in Antarctic conditions, after slight modification. - Description:
- Black leather boots with black leather laces. Very heavy, ankle length, with black soles with good treads which have been nailed on. Metal holes through which the laces are threaded. The small leather strap near the tips of the boots are to hook stocks through so they could be towed.
