This painting is part of a series of by Australian artist John Kelly which playfully explore the Phar Lap legend and his place in contemporary Australia. Many of them were displayed at an exhibition in London in 1997, which then came to Melbourne in 1998. - Description:
- Large rectangular oil painting on linen. Depicts the champion race horse Phar Lap being lifted in a crate, which has the MYER logo on the side. The upper half of Phar Lap's body can be seen protruding from the top of the crate. The crate is being lifted up using straps. The sky in the background is stormy grey. The painting is in a simple brown wooden frame.
