Trunk - Travelling, Dereani Family, circa 1955 Object Reg. No: HT 102

Travelling trunk used by the Dereani Family, when they migrated to Australia from Trieste, Italy in 1955. They also brought two suitcases and a bag, filling them with as much as they could as they had been told that they wouldn't be able to buy anything in Australia.

The Dereani family spent the first 5 years of their lives in Victoria at Bonegilla (1955-59). Georgina Dereani and her husband became staff members at Bonegilla and were allocated private accommodation, which the Georgina went to great lengths to make comfortable, purchasing various domestic good from around Albury, NSW, to make life more comfortable.
