- Newspaper cutting from the front page of the Illustrated London News featuring an illustration by R Taylor of the German statue 'Victory', exhibited above the southern entrance of the (Royal) Exhibition Building during the Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition, 1 August 1888 - 31 January 1889.
- Description:
- Hand coloured wood engraving title page, signed in the lower RC by R. Taylor. The illustration features a statue of a female, holding a laurel wreath in her left hand with a globe of the world above. She is guarding a jeweled crown with her right hand. Below the statue is a banner declaring 'Germany Congratulates Australia'. Well dressed men and women in contemporary fashion look at the exhibits in the foreground. A man is being pushed among them in a wheelchair.
