Calico banner, hand-drawn coloured graphics and text, depicting Japanese games.

This banner, and SH 99.328 and SH 99.330, were made for the 'World of Games' exhibition, held by Springvale Historical Society in 1997. The banner artists were Rosie Cox, Lizzie Norcott and Arabella Rothwell.

The Australian Children's Folklore Collection is unique in Australia, documenting contemporary children's folklore across Australia and in other countries reaching back to the 1870s. The Collection has a strong component of research material relating to Victoria.
Description:
Calico banner, hand-drawn coloured graphics and text. Banner is titled and has a piece of dowel, top and bottom by which to hang the banner. At the top, the Japanese flag and below the title, the islands of Japan. The three main graphics are within square borders and depict the games of Cup and Ball, Scissors Paper Rock and Japanese Hanufada Cards. Some Japanese script as well as English. At the bottom of the banner, another Japanese flag and the names of the makers. Attached to the top of the banner are two origami cranes, one green and one orange.
