Baton - Wood, Melbourne International Exhibition, 1880-1881 Reg. No: SH 960423
- An ebony conductor's baton, allegedly used by Mr Henry Wilson to conduct the massed choir at the Melbourne International Exhibition, 1880-1881. There is no mention of Henry Wilson conducting the choir in the Official Record, however it is possible he conducted at the rehearsals.
Mr. Henry Wilson was grandfather to the donor's husband. The baton was donated to the Royal Exhibition Trustees in May 1991.
- Ebony baton decorated with grooves and routing work, tapered from the handle down to the point.
